azur 540V / HT405.1
Lifestyle system

Cambridge
Audio’s new DVD receiver provides a compact solution to transform your TV and speaker set-up into an instant Home Cinema.
Efficient and easy to use, the 540V combines
three elements in a single package; a Progressive Scan DVD player delivering
dramatic clear images, a digital multi-channel amplifier punching up to 25
watts per channel and an onboard tuner.
This latest one-box Home Cinema unit boasts
an impressive array of features to meet the demands of the Home Cinema
enthusiast and the audiophile. These include Dolby Digital and Dolby Pro-Logic
II decoders for an enveloping surround sound experience.
The 540V is also equipped with DVD
Audio technology to take advantage of the greater bandwidth offered in DVD Audio
CDs. The benefit of DVD Audio is particularly apparent in music played in
surround sound. In keeping with the trademark elegance of the Azur range, the
540V is encased behind a functional, ergonomic, solid aluminum fascia. The
unit’s comprehensive functions can also be accessed via the standard
full-function remote control. Radio broadcasts are handled by an FM/MW tuner
with 40 station presets, whilst a wide selection of analogue and digital inputs
and outputs offers supreme flexibility. Naturally, the DVD player doubles up as
the unit’s CD player, making the 540V an all-encompassing movie and music
package. Gale HT405.1
The compact Gale HT405.1 active subwoofer forms the heart of the
HT405.1 system, effortlessly pumping out clear and dynamic bass. An 8 inch
unshielded long throw woofer delivers heavyweight sound via a dynamic 65 Watt
amplifier, whilst its minimal cabinet construction not only looking stylish, it
helps deliver tight, powerful depth to add that extra impact required for movie
soundtracks. The HT405.1's 5 satellite speakers are a
compact and powerful 2 way design offering a high-end solution for movies lovers
wanting tremendous clarity and dynamic sound quality. The elegant front and rear
speakers are magnetically shielded for placement flexibility. Furthermore, they
can be discretely wall mounted usings brackets, positioned at exactly the ideal
heights and deliver crystal clear absorbing sound.

azur 540A Integrated
Amplifier |
|

Rated at 50 Watts per channel into eight ohms, the Azur
540A benefits from a custom designed oversized transformer and short
path circuitry, while a buffered output stage ensures distortion is kept
to a bare minimum.
The electronics sit on a foundation plate to achieve
maximum support and acoustic damping. Six inputs with two tape loops and
an optional high quality MM phono stage will cater for vinyl lovers.
Fully remote controlled and with a second set of
speaker outputs, the 540A can also be enjoyed in more than one location.
To keep your 540A working under the most testing
conditions a CAP5™ protection circuit constantly checks for overload
while clipping detection actively turns down the volume control.

azur 640A
Integrated
Amplifier
|

If the 540A sets new standards at its price, the 640A punches
well above its weight, with a quality of performance you would expect from
amplifiers that carry a much higher price tag.
The 640A shares all the features of the 540A but
critical aspects of its design have been significantly enhanced so that it
delivers true audiophile levels of production.
Output is 65 watts per channel into eight ohms and the
inclusion of a Class 'A' follower driver stage and high quality Vishay
Polypropylene bypass capacitors reflect the attention to detail that sets
the 640A apart from its rivals.

azur 540D
DVD player |
Combining
Cambridge Audio's legendary high performance with elegant styling and
build quality, the remote controlled 540D NTSC and PAL Progressive Scan
and DVD-Audio player now extends the company's outstanding performance
into the multi-channel arena.
This new Cambridge Audio DVD Player delivers great
performance with both music and movies.
Audio performance is handled by one of Crystal's CS4360
24-bit/192kHz six channel DACs. Its multi-channel DVD-Audio capability
means the 540D is capable of playing conventional Compact Discs and can
also implement Meridian Lossless Packing to deliver 24-bit/96kHz mutli-channel
DVD-Audio and 24bit/192kHz stereo DVD-Audio. |
|
DVD55 - DVD player |

The DVD55 offers PAL and NTSC Progressive Scan output
from its component video outputs to ensure the very highest video
resolution from suitable DVD discs and when attached to a suitably
featured screen.
In Progressive Scan mode the DVD55 is capable of
exceptional video performance. As you would expect from Cambridge Audio
the audio replay is also of the highest quality.
Progressive scan offers a considerable leap in
picture quality from the already impressive standards set by
conventional DVD-Video. The usual way of creating a picture process
draws screen lines twice per frame: once for the even-numbered lines and
once for the odd-numbered lines, interlacing 25/30 times per second.
Progressive Scan DVD players scan from top to bottom in one fluid pass,
painting 50/60 whole frames per second. This makes it harder to discern
picture's individual scan lines, which dramatically increases resolution
while minimizing distortion and flickering.

|
DVD77 DVD player |

The Cambridge Audio DVD77 is an evolution of the
award winning DVD57 and continues the principle of offering a high
specification DVD player at an affordable price.
The DVD77 uses a Crystal CS4360 six channel DAC to play both
conventional CD's (16Bit/44.1kHz stereo) and DVD-Audio Discs. As with
all Cambridge Audio DVD Players, audio reproduction is of the highest
standard.
The DVD77's multi-channel DVD-Audio capability
enables a radically improved listening experience over conventional DVD
players. Meridian Lossless Packing delivers 24Bit/96kHz multi channel
DVD-Audio and 24Bit/192kHz stereo DVD-Audio. This means the DVD77 can
take full advantage of the outstanding sound quality offered by the
DVD-Audio format. The DVD77 can also decode Dolby Digital and DTS
surround soundtracks via the six channel analogue out.
Video playback is equally impressive. Six 12Bit/54MHz
video DACs (digital to analogue converters), support both NTSC and PAL
progressive Scan. This allows for a smooth and flicker free image on a
compatible screen. An acoustically damped chassis is complemented by an
all-new solid aluminum front panel. Here, controls for all primary
features are provided together with a clear information display. A full
function remote control comes as standard.

azur 640T Digital/FM
Tuner |
|
 With
the Azur 640T, Cambridge Audio introduces a tuner which delivers the
best from both digital radio and traditional FM transmitters.
The design incorporates very latest highly
integrated DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) chipset from Texas
Instruments coupled to a high performance Wolfson WM8716 24-bit/192kHz
digital to analogue converter for the best possible performance.
The 640T also features Natural Contour Technology (NCT),
developed by Cambridge Audio to counter the sometimes 'flat'
presentation of compressed digital sources (such as some DAB radio
stations). The 640T provides two settings: 'Warm' which adds an
analogue-like warmth to 'digital' sounding programs and 'Lively' which
breathes life into the sound quality of heavily compressed programs.
What is digital radio?
Digital radio opens up a whole new world of radio,
offering beautifully clear reception, a great choice of stunning new
stations, remarkable ease-of-use and superior text information.
Digital radio, or DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting)
as it is also known, uses digital signals rather than traditional
analogue transmissions, delivering interference free listening
wherever you are.
With digital radio, stations have labels for
identification, meaning you simply select a station name rather than
having to remember a frequency number, making sets incredibly easy to
tune.
Finally, digital radio broadcasts can display text
information in far greater detail than the current RDS system. The
640T has a clear LCD display on which you can see information such as
artist name, song title and sometimes even lyrics.
